Graduate student specializing in 18th century British literature with an emphasis on the novel. Lover of John Milton, Jane Austen, and Charlotte Bronte. (Yes, I know none of them published in the 18th century.) Occasional writer of lengthy fictions, seven-time NaNoWriMo participant and former Office of Letters and Light intern. Reader of much young adult and/or fantasy lit. Lifetime lover of Diane Duane's Young Wizards series, recently fanatic about Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan trilogy, blaming it all on Harry Potter. Wanderluster. Left my heart in London, reclaim it bit by bit through tea and Doctor Who and Sherlock and Downton Abbey. |
Aang bby you can do whatever you want!
I just got hit with such a wave of love. I don’t see why I can’t do both. NO REASON. DO BOTH.
Aang has fantastic life goals and knows how to multitask.
Aang is ~so precious~ !
I LOVE THIS
LIKE
A LOT
A LOT A LOT
it’s just so wonderful, i mean. here we have the MALE protagonist of an ACTION show not only making a necklace with a little flower on it for the girl he likes and not feeling any embarrassment over it but also saying “jewelry business? me? WHY THE FUCK NOT?”
even if its just in jest it is the COOLEST THING EVER and it really struck me when i watched this when i was younger, that this kid just — he either gave no fucks about what the world says gender is supposed to mean or has no concept of it. either way, it was so wonderfully refreshing that i almost couldn’t process it.
aang tells it like it is, straight-up. in popular culture, men save the world, and women do “~*GIRLY*~” (read that with a HEAVY DOSE of sarcasm and bear in mind that i roleld my eyes when i typed it) shit like make jewelry.
and aang just straight-up says,
“i dont see why i can’t do both.”
DO YOU KNOW HOW AWESOME THAT WAS??? HOW AWESOME IT STILL IS? seeing a male protagonist embracign things that are typically seen as ‘feminine’ was the most wonderful thing on the face of the planet and realy formative for me and probably one of the most important things i was exposed to growing up. no lie.
Reblogging for spot-on commentary. (Also. Can you tell that I just finished watching this show? I’d say I’m sorry for the spam that will be coming your way…but I’m not really. And since I’m queueing it so you don’t get it all at once this will hopefully not be an issue?)
