Graduate student specializing in 18th century British literature with an emphasis on the novel. Lover of John Milton, Jane Austen, and Charlotte Bronte. (Yes, I know none of them published in the 18th century.) Occasional writer of lengthy fictions, seven-time NaNoWriMo participant and former Office of Letters and Light intern. Reader of much young adult and/or fantasy lit. Lifetime lover of Diane Duane's Young Wizards series, recently fanatic about Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan trilogy, blaming it all on Harry Potter. Wanderluster. Left my heart in London, reclaim it bit by bit through tea and Doctor Who and Sherlock and Downton Abbey. |
Watching latest Korra ep and LITERALLY, every five seconds, yelling out “agh I love you, you are my favorite!” about every single character that walks onscreen.
I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS SHOW and they are all perfect and there is not a single character that does NOT interact entertainingly with EVERY OTHER SINGLE CHARACTER and I am just SO RIDICULOUSLY HAPPY ABOUT THIS.
I…really need to find RL friends who watch this show. Stat.
Be warned, spoilers and thoughts and all kinds of emotions ahead! (Yes, I watched this before, I’m rewatching it now so commentary will be slightly more coherent.)

So, for those of you who dislike liveblogging or are just not interested in my thoughts on Kate Elliott’s Cold Magic, set your Tumblr Saviors to block “liveblog,” because although it is 1am here and I should probably be sleeping, I am instead sitting in bed with pillows and comfy blankets and what already looks like it will be an awesome novel.
Right now the plan is to break for sleep by 3am if not earlier. We’ll see how this one works out…
(Um so yeah you should rec fics that I should read after I get over having all kinds of feeeeeeeelings.)
The human body is mostly water. Theoretically, doesn’t this mean that a waterbender could pretty much control someone’s body via their water molecules? Or at the very least kill them by suddenly pulling all of the water OUT of their body?
Suddenly Katara is looking even more deadly than usual.
ETA: Had this thought before watching “The Puppet Master,” have now finished the series, am vaguely terrified of bloodbending.
You know what I really need? Fic where post-Goliath Alek shows up somehow within this episode and gives Zuko a talking-to. Hopefully with Deryn’s help, so that after Alek tries and fails to make Zuko understand what’s going on, Deryn can punch him in the face and then scream THIS IS NOT YOUR DESTINY ZUKO YOUR DESTINY IS HAPPINESS AND SELF-ACCEPTANCE NOW STOP BEING SUCH A BUMRAG AND JUST FACE THE POSSIBILITY THAT YOU MIGHT BE A DECENT PERSON (and if this is NOT where his story arc ends then I am going to track down the people who wrote this show and give them a piece of my mind).
Why do I feel like this is going to result in CRYING and HEARTACHE and THE NEED FOR GREAT AMOUNTS OF CHOCOLATE?
But before that, here is what SHOULD happen:
(Obviously I should have been a writer for this show, yes?)
Aaaaaaargh Avatar why are you doing this to me. I am sorry, after staying up all night to finish a paper that seemed good yesterday before I realized at 10pm that actually the last four pages made no sense, and turning in said paper at 10am, I really just needed happy fuzzy adorable flying things, BUT NO YOU HAD TO GO THROW ALL THE FEELINGS AT ME. (More about “Tales of Ba Sing Se,” “Appa’s Lost Days,” “Lake Laogai,” and “The Earth King” behind the cut. Also, FEELINGS.)

Argh Zuko you were such a whiny little shit at first, I should not be falling for your character arc just because you have cut off your ridiculous ponytail and are conflicted about your part in this war and suddenly so much more complex than I thought you were! Did you writers know all this about you from the beginning and then do things like this to me simply because they wanted me to go through this same kind of turbulent journey of EMOTIONS?! And does this mean that they are only making me like you and your conflictedness in order to tear you back down to pieces or force you to make some impossible decision that will leave me raging at my computer screen?
(with reference to 2x07, “Zuko Alone,” which I should NOT BE WATCHING because there are papers that still need to be written and none of them are about princes with ridiculous hair who just need to be hugged and get all their creys out)
